Character: Chai Xianghua from Soul Calibur When I first started playing Soul Calibur in the arcade, someone mentioned to me, "Hey, you kind of look like Xianghua." Seeing as she was also my favorite character, this was probably my gateway into cosplay. Her 1P or 2P costumes were more recognizable, but I really loved this, which was only unlockable in the home version of the game. This costume went through several different stages of completion over a long period of time. In fact, I still need to make different leg warmers. I lucked out with the jacket, because my mother has a chain stich embroidery machine and embroiders varsity jackets. I drew out patterns for her and she filled them in. If I had it to do over again, I would alter the jacket pattern to fit a little closer, and I would use Fray Check on all the satin appliques because over time they have frayed out of their stitching. I like the wig on this costume because it was cheap and also looks pretty good.
